About the role

As part of our Process Safety team, you will provide technical expertise, governance and initiate improvements in technical risk and safety engineering. You will also  provide process safety support to one of our three Major Hazard Facilities at Kwinana.

This is a role where your customer focus and ability to initiate and deliver positive change through a balance of diplomacy and assertiveness will be recognised. Supported by your colleagues and Operational leaders, you will drive a consistent approach to process safety management through collaboratively partnering with operations personnel and championing positive safety culture in line with our values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver guidance materials, work processes, and metrics to strengthen and improve our process safety management system.
  • Lead investigations into reportable and high risk incidents to identify root causes and improvements to strengthen our engineered and systematic controls.
  • Conduct and review hazard identification and risk assessment processes (HAZOP, LOPA, ALARP demonstration and MOC assessments).
  • Communicate effectively with regulators regarding reportable incidents, information requests, and MHF Safety Reports.

 

About You:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Chemical, Mechanical or a similar engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years’ experience in Process safety with brownfields experience within the heavy industry, chemical processing and/or fixed plant environments.
  • Experience in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), including HAZOP, LOPA, QRA and Safety Case development.
  • Strong understanding of risk frameworks and application of ALARP principles.
  • Accredited and/or experience with leading incident investigations, including human performance considerations.
  • Experience in engaging and influencing across multi-disciplinary teams to ensure robust safety outcomes aligned with operational priorities.
  • Abreast on legislative requirements and accustomed to managing regulator interactions.
  • Analytical and forward-thinking approach with strong attention to detail.
  • The ability to work autonomously while contributing positively within a team.
  • Flexible to be contactable outside of business hours as required.
