About the role

Reporting to the Safety and Quality Manager, the Safety Superintendent is responsible for providing safety support and leadership across all workplaces in the WesCEF division. The role provides strategic and operational leadership to the Safety Team and ensures a high standard of service delivery, technical capability and organisational effectiveness.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Implement, strengthen and monitor safety programs and controls that strengthen risk management and improve safety performance.
  • Ensure the WesCEF Safety function have appropriate resourcing capability, systems and tools to support efficient operations.
  • Ensure safety planning supports continuous improvement and operational excellence
  • Ensure accurate reporting of incident classifications and alignment with legislative and organisational reporting requirements.
  • Influence and Engage with stakeholders to support business planning and delivery on organisational safety outcomes.
  • Develop and monitor safety budget and expenditure and deliver accurate and timely reporting of variances.
  • Develop annual Safety budget proposals, including forecasting of staffing, programs, systems, training and contractor requirements.
  • Lead the implementation and execution of safety initiatives and systems improvements across the WesCEF division.
  • Ensure safety compliance and governance whilst maintaining current knowledgeable of emerging industry, safety regulations and best practice developments.
  • Acting lead Investigator for safety critical and high risk incidents utilising the Taproot methodology.
  • Ensure safety behaviours, service levels and interactions align with WesCEF values and reflect a high level of professionalism and customer service.
  • Contribute and support ad hoc business related tasks or projects as required.

 

About you 

  • Degree or diploma qualification in Occupational Health and Safety with a similar level experience working within chemical manufacturing, minerals processing and/or power generation.
  • History of experience in safety management and high‑risk industrial environments
  • Strategic mindset to deliver safety plans and operational development projects.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety legislation, regulatory frameworks and contemporary safety management systems and practices.
  • Lead and deliver organisational safety initiatives and innovation
  • Innovative mindset whilst fostering a culture of safety, compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Experienced in building and maintaining stakeholder relationships across multiple sites, teams and functions.
  • Ability to work autonomously whilst contributing effectively within a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
  • Strong planning, organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal to convey safety concepts effectively.
  • Resilient to change in an everchanging dynamic environment.
