About the role
Reporting to the Safety and Quality Manager, the Health & Hygiene Superintendent is responsible for managing health and hygiene risks, workers compensation and injury management, and provision of medical services to ensure the health and wellbeing of employees. This role oversees WesCEF’s Health & Hygiene team to ensure a high quality of service delivery and effectiveness. It creates and fosters a workplace with a strong culture of safety, teamwork, compliance and person-centred care.
This key role will lead the development, delivery and continuous improvement of programs and processes encompassing emergency first aid, health and hygiene risk management, injury management and workers compensation, fitness for work, health surveillance and medical screening, as well as wellbeing and health promotion.
Key responsibilities include
- Develop, deliver and continuously improve occupational health and hygiene programs.
Develop health and wellbeing initiatives and promotions. - Ensure delivery of occupational hygiene risk assessments, workplace monitoring, equipment servicing, worker communication and leadership engagement.
- Manage onsite health services at the CSBP Kwinana site, including direct supervision of onsite Health Professionals ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
- Manage contractual arrangements for WesCEF’s employee assistance program and medical professionals.
- Manage the full lifecycle of all workers’ compensation cases, including engaging with insurer, workers, internal stakeholders, medical practitioners, develop and oversee rehabilitation strategies.
- Ensure WesCEF has a full suite of policies and procedures for health and hygiene that are fit for purpose, robust, defensible and aligned with legislative and good practice standards.
- Provide expert input to WesCEF’s programs to support mental health and psychosocial risk management.
- Drive operational excellence in health, hygiene and medical management practices through proactive engagement, guidance and support.
- Participate and complete additional tasks/projects from time to time as requested.
About you
- Degree or diploma qualification in Occupational Health, Nursing, Hygiene, Allied Health and/or in a similar field.
- Certification in First Aid and Injury Management desirable.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in health, hygiene and medical management with demonstrated leadership experience, including strategic planning and capability development.
- Experience in high-risk, heavy industrial sectors such as chemicals manufacturing, oil & gas, minerals processing, or power generation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in Occupational Health & Hygiene risk management and Workers’ Compensation.
- Exceptional ability to drive service innovation and program growth while fostering a culture of safety, compliance and person-centred care.
- In-depth knowledge ofhealth, hygiene and medical management legislation and best practice standards.
- Experience leading change and in delivering company-wide health and hygiene related initiatives.
- Strategic mindset, proven leadership ability, and the ability to influence cultural and behavioural change at all organisational levels and thrive in a complex operational setting.
- Strong track record with engaging with stakeholders across multiple sites and workstreams.
- Proven ability to effectively oversee service delivery, policy development, continuous improvement and financial management.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Ability to work autonomously while also thriving in a collaborative team environment.
